Hello out there. Firstly, Happy New Year to you all. I hope you are enjoying the festive season and have found some time within it to chill. This time of year can be equally testing as relaxing, and we hope it’s been a case of more of the latter.
2023 will be a big year for the Hoppers team. One in which big in-roads will be made to finally see the Tweed Brewery open and in operation. We were able to get a full set of construction drawings out to builders just before Christmas, just in time (and just before) the building industry shut down for a month. You know what they say about timing:
Observe due measure, for the right timing is in all things the most important factor.

None the less we should have building quotes in our hands by mid-February. We will then start an analysis immediately and have a builder appointed early March. Hopefully they can break ground shortly after.
Next Tuesday (24th January) we can/keg our third gypsy brew at Fonzie Abbott Brewery in Brisbane. Gypsy or contract brewing is a business model for bridging the gap from home brewing to commercial brewing. The way it works is that we brew our beer at someone else’s venue using their equipment and pay them a fixed fee to do it. “Seven Nil” is on cards and remains a focus for us at present. With the weather as it here now in the sub-tropics, a quaffable craft golden ale seems the obvious choice and the one we always gravitate to in our discussions. Our brew prior was “Night Tunnel”, a dark lager, which was met with many favourable comments. We have detailed some easy tweaks that will see an improvement in quality, and it will come back into play when things cool down a little.
Distilling is also a big part of our focus and our pilot still arrived in Australia today. This heralds a new time for the Hoppers as we can get to experimenting and refining a few recipes and hopefully in the new future have a tipple available for all those that enjoy conversing with the spirits. No release date has been set on this as there are a few hurdles to jump through (and it’s yet to even be unpacked) but it excites the team to know we can now start making inroads here.
There are a few more things in the pipeline that we can’t publicly communicate at this point but rest assured a lot of ducks are in a very big line up over this way. We will continue to provide monthly updates via the website and our socials are in constant action. Don’t forget to subscribe to our Spotify Playlist “Hoppy DelMar” for the latest tunes we are listening to, and we should have some new merch for purchase in the near future.
Of course, we can’t thank you enough for your support over the last few years. Even if all you’re doing is liking our posts from time to time that’s good enough for us. To those who engage more fully with us, all I can say is we know who you are and when we finally get this beast of brewery up and running the invitation for the opening will be forthcoming. You better be ready! And available!
Much love and respect to you all.
The Hoppers Team. xx
