Beer & Music

Progress Update

Brad Cole

Right, first things first. An update on where we are with things. More lessons in patience unfortunately. Now that the DA (Development Approval) challenge has been successfully completed we are now focused on getting our construction certificate. We have moved away from working directly with the council and over to a certifier. The certifier makes sure that we are compliant and planning to build as per the DA (and associated stipulations) and is the one who submits all our drawings to the council to obtain a construction certificate. Armed with a construction certificate, we can go to out to builders for quotes then finally look towards breaking ground.

The certifier needs a comprehensive set of drawings that brings everything together during construction. To do that we need to engage many specialist consultants to work on the project. Mechanical, structural, hydraulic & civil engineers, fire consultants, electricians, kitchen specialists, refrigeration technicians and the list goes on. Anyway, we are close and hope to have all documents to the certifier within the week.

The Hoppers and our designer Brad Cole will be relieved & excited when this is completed.

Music and Beer

Jam Night

Music is one of the most important and powerful things in The Hoppers lives. My life without the melodies and harmonies that songs provide would be totally less enjoyable. My Monday night jam sessions are a priority for me and listening to and playing different tunes helps me to de-stress, relax as well as helping to motivate me in trying times. Songs are like photos to me as hearing a certain tune will take me back to a particular moment or time in my life. They are the strongest connections to my past. I often hear a song and get inwardly transformed back to a time or situation in my life.

I love listening to music when I am relaxing. All the Hoppers do and over the years we have had many discussions about new songs and bands. Apps like Shazam help these days so you can easily catch and note a song you like when out and about. Gone are the days of racing up to the bar to ask someone what song is currently playing before it ends, only have the bar tender shrug and look at you blankly.

This is where Spotify comes into play. For those of you still in the dark ages Spotify is a digital platform that gives you access to millions of songs and other content from creators all over the world.

So, we got to thinking when we first started this project and thought how cool it would be to have a playlist associated with every beer. A set of songs specifically created to enhance the pleasure of your drinking experience. And guess what, Spotify can produce a scannable code that takes you directly to a specific playlist.

Night Tunnel Playlist Scan

It seemed all too perfect, so the Hoppers brought it into immediate effect. It’s already in play. Two beer playlists down and more to come. But this is where you come in. We are building a community of beer and music lovers on many different levels, and we would love you to upload your Spotify playlists for all to hear.
